As part of a broader company program, its production site in Spain deployed an initiative to improve product (solar cells) and manufacturing efficiency, help stabilise operations and support the set-up and ramp-up of new manufacturing lines. The key operational metric was the cost of conversion from raw material to finished product – the main levers were line throughput, cell efficiency and yield.
During two years Kairos Management worked with the company to identify improvement opportunities and define projects around the three levers. We trained and coached improvement leaders on the Lean Six Sigma methodology and worked with them on the projects. We also helped establish and drive continuous improvement mechanisms.
A total of €2MM in hard savings and an additional €2MM in cost avoidance have been secured in 7 specific improvement projects.
